I recently had to cancle a booking with rentalcars.com and found I’d be charged for “deposit” which is about 10% of the overall amount. I don’t see any logic why I could not get full refund as their website stated full refund for cancellation(their website did say if you pay a booking deposit, “the rules are a bit different”) however what would be “a bit different” and why thise would make things “different” are never clear. When I rang their customer phone, I was not explained either apart from this is the “terms and conditions”.
Bragging itself as the world leading booking website, I however find it very difficult to deal with: there is no complaint channel listed on its website and being a UK company there is no way to get fair trading department stepping in like in Australia.
I won’t use its service anymore
