I recently upgraded my ACL ( a data analysis tool widely used by IT auditors) to 10.5 and noticed there are a number of new functions introduced.

EOMONTH( ): Returns the date of the last day of the month that is the specified number of months before or after a specified date.

This is a very handy function to do date comparison or manipulation. For example I needed to load records from insurers for last month but the report listed all transactions up to date when the report was generated(e.g. the report is generated on 7th of August, but I only want data up to 31 Jul) . By using this function, I could easily exclude transactions that were outside last day of previous month. This function is similar to function in Oracle like add_months.
